Meet the Board

On leaving university Simon spent 7 years in farm business management before joining racing’s governing authority with responsibility for racecourse licensing, Clerk of the Course training and Point to Pointing.

He was Clerk of the Course at Cheltenham Racecourse for over twenty years and in 2012 was appointed Regional Head of Racing for The Jockey Club South West courses which also included Exeter, Warwick and Wincanton. He left the Jockey Club at the end of 2021.

Simon was Chairman of the Point to Point Owners’ and Riders’ Association for 5 years before serving as Chairman of the Point to Point Authority from 2009 to 2012.

Clarissa Daly took over from Rebecca Davies (nee Morgan) in November 2012.

Based in Shropshire, Clarissa, wife of National Hunt Trainer Henry, has a strong racing knowledge and understanding of the industry. Clarissa brings considerable marketing and public relations experience to the PRA from her previous roles running her own Marketing and PR Agency and as a Public Relations Officer for the Countryside Alliance. Prior to that she worked in London for a political lobbying company for a number of years.

Having pony raced for a number of years, Henry has a great grounding in pony racing. He also rode as an amateur for Kim Bailey and briefly as a conditional to Paul Nicholls before turning his attentions to University.

Henry is currently enrolled in the 2021-2023 Godolphin Flying Start, a management programme with spells in five leading racing nations, UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and Dubai.

Caroline is the Racecourse Services Director of The Racecourse Association Ltd, the trade association for 59 racecourses in Great Britain. She is responsible for providing advice, support and training to racecourses in addition to representing them at industry forums and with Government and Local Authorities. She has extensive experience in the racing industry including appointments to various industry committees and boards. She is currently an active member of the BHA Racecourse Committee and Medical Advisory Group.

In 1997 Lucy joined The Jockey Club at Portman Square as the Point-to-Point Administrator. Following that she worked at Stratford Racecourse before joining the Jonjo O’Neill team at Jackdaws Castle as Racing Secretary.

During that time she was Secretary for the Point-to-Point Secretaries Association (PPSA) before returning to the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) to take up the new role of Point-to-Point Executive in 2004. A review of the sport was carried out from which the Point-to-Point Authority emerged.

The Authority is the headquarters for Point-to-Point Pony Racing and Lucy along with a Committee has ensured it has gone from strength to strength over the past five years.

Mike’s first winner came in 1978 after which he went on to become Champion Point-to-Point Rider three times, riding principally for John Dufosee, Henrietta Knight and Keith Cumings.

He has been a Master of Foxhounds (MFH) for 19 years and as a MFH Association representative he has been involved with the Point-to-Point Owners and Riders Association, Point-to-Point Secretaries Association, Point-to-Point Board and the Point-to-Point Authority. He has served as a Steward under Rules and in Point-to-Pointing for 10 years and on the Licensing Committee for seven years.

Zoe is the Head of Careers Marketing and Recruitment at the British Horseracing Authority and is currently leading the Careers Marketing Strategy for British Horseracing via the careersinracing.com brand and marketing campaign.

Zoe has over twenty year’s experience as a sales and marketing professional, working for a variety of governing bodies, trade associations, charities and commercial organisations handling a wide range of marketing projects.

She graduated in 1996 with an Equine Business and Marketing Degree, and subsequently went on to gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Growing up in Cheltenham and seeing the size and professional level of the sport drew her to racing away from the other equestrian disciplines and it is a move she has never regretted, even though she continues to have a passion for all equestrian sport.

Thomas rode as a Amateur Jockey for 11 years during which he was both Champion Amateur and Champion Point to Point Jockey.

He now is a Director of Bespoke Hotels which manages and owns 60 hotels in the UK. He was appointed a member of the Jockey Club in 2018.

Sheila has worked for Jockey Club Racecourse since 1990 and is currently Finance Director for Cheltenham Racecourse and Accountant/Company Secretary for Exeter, Warwick and Wincanton Racecourses. Her role encompasses many areas of the business including health and safety, but primarily the provision of financial information and governance for the racecourses with whom she is involved.

In addition to Sheila’s ‘racecourse’ she has responsibility for the running of the JCR Shared Finance Centre, which provides a financial transactional service for all 14 racecourses in the group and was instrumental in developing this department 4 years ago. Sheila was appointed PRA Company Secretary in 2007.

Caroline and husband Fred, run a successful Point-to-Point and Hunter Chase yard from their Warwickshire home including buying and producing young stock. Caroline has been PRA Steward since 2009 and was appointed as Chief PRA Steward, the first paid executive of the PRA, in 2010 with responsibility for PRA Membership, Pony Registration Forms and the Charles Owen Pony Racing Series.
