The 2019 Novice Riders Series
This is the seventh year of the highly popular “Novice Riders” Race Series which will see 17 qualifying races being staged around the country culminating in a final for each height category (numbers permitting) at the 2019 Point-to-Point Pony Racing Championship Finals which is being hosted at the Exmoor Point-to-Point on Sunday, 2nd June. It’s target audience is for those children who want to have a go but don’t want the pressure of competitiveness from seasoned pony racers. Combinations who have run in a qualifying race in the 2019 season will be eligible to enter and run in the final.
A Novice Riders Championship will be run during 2019 and points will be allocated as follows: 1st: 6 2nd: 4 3rd: 2 4th: 1
The rider with the most points will be presented with their award at the annual PRA awards at the end of the year.
Trophies 1st – 3rd in each race. Rosettes, mementoes & prizes to all runners. Prize for highest placed Novice Rider (rider not to have won a race) in each race. Prize for highest placed 128cms & under pony in 1st Race.
WELSHBORDERAREARIDER&PONYCHAMPIONSHIPS Points will be awarded to ponies and riders taking part in pony races staged at the Teme Valley & United (24/3), North Ledbury (7/4), Radnor & WestHereford (5/5) and Golden Valley (18/5).

There are three races at this meeting and they will take place BEFORE the official PtP races.
Race 1: CONDITIONS (Novice Rider) – this is part of the Novice Riders Series
For Riders who at the start of the season have not WON a Point-to-Point or Pony Club OPEN race and who have never taken part in the Charles Owen racecourse series.
For Ponies which have not been placed 1st or 2nd in any Point-to-Point, Pony Club and Charles Owen Racecourse OPEN race since 1st January 2017.
