Taster Days

Taster Days are a fantastic opportunity to find out more about Pony Racing.

Pony Racing Taster Days -which are normally unmounted / without ponies –  are aimed at ALL  children aged 7 – 15 years of age. Those who ride and who don’t (yet) ride, those who have never thought about having a go at Pony Racing and those who have thought about it, but aren’t sure how to get involved. The aim of the day is to show both parents and children what is needed to take part in a pony race as well as have a great time.

These days can run alongside a Pony Club Race Day so that participants have an opportunity to see it in action once they have learnt more about what goes on. We also run some days as stand alone days at Racecourses on a non-race day. Click here to see what happened on a recent day at Aintree Racecourse.

Pony Racing Taster Days are free to attend but you must sign up in advance on the PRA website.  Places are limited and parents/guardians are asked to accompany children throughout the day.   You don’t need any special equipment to attend, just dress comfortably.

Find out what pony racing is all about!

Activities on the day are normally 30mins each and include a fitness and balance session, a chance to have a go on an equicisor, a tack demonstration and sometimes the opportunity for a racecourse tour.

The days can also be beneficial for those who ride in the races on the day and help sharpen their skills on the equicisor.  They are a great start for anyone wanting to find out more about the sport.  We hope to see you on one soon!
